Happy 2nd Birthday Logan!!

My baby is now "officially" two. We had a birthday party with all of his cousins over on Friday night. It was alot of fun. Even his MN cousins were able to make it.  Earlier in the day I'd taken him birthday shopping for his party supplies like we always do on who's birthday it is. It's their special day, and they get to come with mom all by themselves. It usually just consists of stopping somewhere for lunch, and then a trip to the dollar store and Walmart.
He picked out his own plates and napkins, and then was fired up to pick out a balloon. He wore that proudly on his wrist all thru Walmart. He looked pretty darn cute at how proud of it he was. Well not more than a half hour after we'd gotten home, his brother decided it'd be a great idea to take the balloon outside..... two minutes later ( I didn't know he'd done this, and neither did Logan) Travis came running in a bit frantic cause I had to "go catch it". It was long gone. I made him and Jenna promise not to tell Logan they lost his one birthday balloon. They didn't, and I dont' think he even noticed it was gone.  He also got a few cute new outfits, some pj's and socks. The socks I think were the biggest hit for him. :) After such a busy day and late night, he slept pretty good last night. I'm hoping for a repeat tonight. We'll see. :)

Just Like Her Mother

An old neighbor commented the other day on facebook, that this is either a picture of me when I was a little girl, or I have a little girl that looks just like me. There are alot of similarities between Jenna and I when I was five. She's definitely her momma's little girl, all you have to do is look at her to tell. :)

All Done With the Plug

We took away this guys pluggie (pacifier) last Saturday. I was a little bit nervous to do so, but it all worked out great! He hasn't even asked for it once! We just give him his blanket and teddy bear, and he goes down for bed and his naps just like he did with the plug. We took it away because he was two and didn't really need it anymore, and because I wanted to do it before baby comes in June, or it'd really be a challenge then as all of our kids have been pluggie babies.

Easter 2011

My Logan turned two last Saturday, but we are holding off on his party til this coming Friday so his Minnesota cousins can hopefully make it. :) Crazy to me that my baby is two. :)

We had many attempts at a nice picture of all three kiddos
Our Easter was nice. We woke up at seven thirty a.m. to Jenna being SUPER pumped because that wonderful bunny brought her a brand new Easter dress. She proceeded to put it on right away. Then the buckets and eggs were found and dug into. We went to church, and then headed to Aaron's mom and dad's for lunch. The kids and their aunt Deanna had an egg hunt in the afternoon. The weather was beautiful, and the kids had a great time playing with their cousins.
I got the kids together before church when they were still all cute and clean for a few pictures. All 3 of my little loves.
My cute little men.

Travis
And last but not least... our pretty little lady.

My 5 Year Old

It seems crazy to me to think my little girl is old enough to go to Kindergarten in the fall. We went and registered her last week, and it hit me kind of funny. She's gone to preschool for the past year, but it's not the same. She's only gone for half the day, and only four days a week. It's not like "real" school to me. It feels different. I'm excited for her to go, because I know she is going to absolutely LOVE it. She thrives on learning, and soaks it all in like a sponge. She'll think it's great. But at the same time, I'm not ready to send her out into the world and have someone else see her more than I do. Not quite ready for her to begin growing up and loosing that sweet innocence that seems to disappear somewhere between kindergarten and high school. Part of me wants to just sit and hug her tight and never let her go.
But then, you realize that at some point you do have to let go. Let her go to discover her wings and to learn how to fly. Discover who she really is, and what she wants to be.

But for now, I have this one last summer where she will still be "all mine." A summer to enjoy her before she begins a new journey. One where I can't be there all the time. So I'm going to soak up and cherish my Jenna this summer. And I'm going to hold those memories in my heart when she is gone all day at school in the fall. It'll be different, but it will be ok. We'll be fine. :) Probably Jenna more so than her mom. :)

Honestly!?

Our weather is getting to be a little bit ridiculous lately. In the 60's one week, and then three days later it snows about eight inches and the weather is back in the 20's and 30's. I'm beginning to wonder if spring will ever come!

Sure Mommy!

This kid has really been making me smile alot lately. His two newest phrases are " Sure Mommy!" and "Niiice Diapers!" :) He's been talking in sentances, and is just busy busy busy!  It'll be interesting to see how he reacts to a new baby in ten weeks.

He decided one afternoon to help shovel our snow onto the sidewalk with his sand shovel. All the snow in these pictures was gone, until this morning, when winter decided to butt back in again.

My crocus's and tulips were budding and sprouting as of the beginning of last week.... today we have at least two inches of heavy wet sloppy snow.... ick. Hopefully the weather will turn nice again, and melt it all quickly.

Signs of Spring

Here are a few signs of spring around here. I have pictures too, but my camera is outside in my van.... maybe they'll get posted this week sometime.
But in the meantime, I'm calling it spring, and here's why:
  • My boys both got buzzy hair cuts- I always think it's WAY too short for the first day, and then love it afterwords. They always look so big with their first buzz of the season.
  • Our snow bank has been melted so that it's half the size it used to be. Aaron collapsed the kids snow fort yesterday so they wouldn't get stuck in it.
  • Our driveway is a MAJOR mud pit. Logan discovered he doesn't like mud. His boots get stuck and he can't move so well. That makes him too nervous.
  • The trees are budding down by my mom's house.
  • I've seen yellow finches and red breasted robins flitting around and singing in the trees.
  • I have crocus's blooming in my garden, along with daffodils and tulips working their way out of the ground.
  • The ice on my house roof came crashing down at 4 a.m. the other morning. Shook the whole house and scared the heck out of Aaron and I. If our van had been four feet closer to the house the ice would've demolished our van. Part of me was relieved, the other part ( the sassy side) wishes it would've.... we are dreaming of a newer vehicle. Ours is starting to die one part at a time.
  • The sun has shone probably the past five days in a row. That doesn't happen around here in the winter. We're lucky to see the sun once a week then.
  • There are rivers of water from melting snow running down the sides of the road.
  • I can see my yard again!
It makes me smile to see and hear all these signs of spring, and gets me kind of giddy cause that means garage sale season is just around the corner. I can't wait!!!  Just dreaming of all those bargains waiting to be found gives me the itch to garage sale. A few more weeks..... well four actually till Jennie and I go to Green Bay. Then five more weeks after that til baby L is due! The countdown is on. :) I think there is a wedding almost every weekend in May that I plan on attending, and then it'll finally be June. It'll come faster now.... at least that's what I am counting on! :) We were at the camp last night and my SIL and her family came out there with her 3 week old baby girl. Just listening to her baby squeaks and cry made me smile. Soon enough our little babe will be here. Our countdown is on. :)

They Finally Came!

Logan's new diapers finally came in the mail today! I was so excited so see them. The fun bright colors just make me smile. The only bummer is we won't really be able to start using them until next week. My laundry detergent for them is supposed to come in the mail tomorrow, and then I can wash them so he can wear them. However, my mom is so kindly watching our kids this weekend so Aaron and I can have a weekend to ourselves and I don't want her to have do deal with these when I really don't know how to yet. But I am SUPER excited to try. I never EVER thought I would be, but I truly think I will love them. I tried one on Logan just to see what they looked like for two minutes today. They looked cute, but it was funny because he didn't really know quite what to think. Something different for him. :)

We were going to go somewhere great, but then I decided to begin using cloth diapers. SO.... we'll just have a fun date weekend at home. Go out for breakfast and supper, maybe rent a couple movies, go for a walk down town to check out the cute shops that you can't really do while sporting a crew of three kids..... the list goes on and on.
( Just look at the bright colors of the diapers, not the misc. junk on my bathroom floor. :) It was the brightest spot for lighting to show the true colors of the diapers in the whole house.)

It was *almost* Spring.

We did get out and enjoy the week of spring like weather we had. The kids loved it!
